LDS™ stapler is the most popular stapling device amongst UK veterinary surgeons. The ligating and dividing system (LDS™ ) stapler is designed to ligate and divide blood vessels and is a very efficient and time saving device. The vessels are inserted in the end of the instrument jaws and on firing, two staples are inserted adjacent to each other while a knife simultaneously cuts the middle. The LDS™ stapler is of particular importance for ligation of mesenteric vessels and facilitating the removal of the spleen.
Main applications in veterinary surgery:
• Resection of omentum or omental adhesions
• Rapid ligation of vascular pedicles in a variety of procedures but especially useful for splenectomy
